Located in the heart of Victoria’ gold fields, the beautiful regional city of Bendigo this year hosts the fifth Bendigo Queer Film Festival, presenting a range of films and events for the local gay and lesbian community.
Festival Convenor Mr Julian Regan says the film program is eagerly anticipated each year.
“It’s hugely important in the community because it’s one of the few occasions that we go public,” Mr Regan told MCV.
Supported by both local businesses and the City of Greater Bendigo, this year’s festival presents a range of films, selected with the assistance of the Melbourne Queer Film Festival.
For the boy’s there’s Shelter, a tenderly observed romance about Zach, a young surfer struggling with his growing attraction for Shaun, his best friend’s older, worldlier brother; while Finn’s Girl (pictured) is a sophisticated film about Dr Finn Jefferies, a grief-stricken lesbian who slowly begins to learn to love anew.
